I think I’d prefer to be an ottoman. So, a lot of people here are talking about "Mobisodes," i.e., episodes of whatever (drama, comedy, sitcoms, etc) on your mobile. They’re cut up, usually 3-5 minutes each, usually around 8-10 episodes. My question – When are we watching them? My number one guess is commuting (and I posed that question to everyone at the show, and they all agreed) – so if the question is while commuting, does that put another nail in the death coffin of the newspaper, like I predicted in late 05? What happens if we can all watch TV now, on our mobiles, as opposed to reading the New York Times? Perhaps we’d better start cultivating better [...]

The morning dawned grey and hot, as every morning in Singapore has so far. Last night saw an after-day-one party with free drinks and networking galore. And it saw me stay for five minutes, schmooze, network, drink two diet cokes, and promptly go back to my hotel room to work for three hours. On the plus side of that work, though, among other things, OpSec Security resigned with Geek Factory for another year. That thrills me. They’re such a fun client. Thank you, guys. A few fun photos before the madness of the conference starts… At Raffles Plaza Mall near my hotel, there’s a really cool fountain that, in addition to the usual "spray water straight up" thing that fountains [...]

So I go up to Richard Robinson, CEO of Dada Asia, who, as you know, bought my former client Upoc a bit ago, (and is also the marathon runner I blogged about a half hour ago.) Introduced myself, played the "who we know game" (this time it was Greg Clayman and David Friedensohn,) and then, of course, the conversation turned to our marathons. Me: "Congratulations again on running Rome!"Him: "Thanks. It was tough."Me: "I can relate. I ran New York this past November."Him: "Me too. Great race, huh?"Me: Totally was. How’d you do?Him: "3:58."Me: "Really? I ran a 3:58, too! 3:58:03!"Him: "You’re kidding. 3:58:41!" The world just gets smaller and smaller and smaller. And smaller. Myself with Richard Robinson, who [...]

New magazine premiered here at the show – Charged – Seems interesting – another take on mobile biz in Asia.

Word got out that I busted someone for being on the mobile. No one has yet to be for the afternoon sessions. The kicker to me is that we’re at a mobile CONTENT show. You couldn’t text?! Jeez. Paul Meyers, who’s the Founder/CEO of Acme Mobile, has a great tagline on his business card: "Fun, whether you want it or not." What a perfect world we’d all live in if we could offer everyone content that they were required to take. Cool. :) Either way, good stuff there – Smart guy. Got some video coming – someone shot me with a camera phone closing out the morning session. I’ll post it in a second. Apparently, I’m telling a joke. Lovely. [...]
