PETER SHANKMAN

Words can’t even begin to express how excited I am for this Sweeney Todd. It was the first Broadway show my parents ever took me to see, and started my love of musical theatre. In fact, during the intermission, some old woman turned to my mother and said, "Do you think someone of his age (pointing to me) should really be seeing a show like this?" My mom looked at me and asked, point blank, "Peter, what do you think?" "I LOVE IT!" was my enthusiastic five-year-old response. The old woman "Hmmphd" and walked away. I still love it. Besides – The cast!! Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, and Sacha Baron Cohen! All-star, indeed! Plus, Johnny [...]

So the people at Zibra read my book and got in touch with me. They were so cool, in fact, that they sent me three of the greatest gifts known to man. Honestly, this is something I never knew I needed, until I got it. Now I can’t live without it. It’s a pair of scissors, I guess, is the best way to describe it – DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR OPENING THE IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN PLASTIC PACKAGES IN WHICH EVERYTHING SEEMS TO COME NOWADAYS. Or my personal favorite, "It’s been three weeks and you haven’t sent out one damn press release!" Sometimes, though, it’s nice to be proven right. The New York Times blog can be found here, and I’ve enclosed the paragraph of note [...]
