Easiest way in the world to invite people to Help A Reporter – Simply cut and paste below: As you know, reporters are constantly looking for sources. They’re always writing stories, reporting on something, and always need experts in the field of whatever they’re reporting. Problem is, they don’t often know how to find them. On the flip side, if you’re an expert at something (And come on, everyone’s an expert at SOMETHING,) how do you let the media know you’re available to talk and be quoted when they’re writing a story? When I saw Matt’s first video in 2006, I was so jealous… So so so jealous. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it wasn’t entirely jealousy – it was envy, but in a good way – in a “wow, that’s something else to add to my list” type of way. Every once in a while, I come across SUCH a great pitch, so perfect in form, function, so on target, and so exactly what the reporter is looking for, I’ve no choice but to call the pitcher out and blog about it. Jenny Schmitt saw a pitch on HARO about fun father/daughter ideas that wouldn’t cause a “guy to get his guy card revoked.” Seeing that the reporter obviously had a sense of humor, Jenny crafted the perfect pitch, filling it with information, exactly what the reporter wanted, and topped it off with a touch of humor.
