A Katrina-Related Release Done Properly

Found this afternoon on PR Newswire. A release relating to Katrina – Well done. Written very respectfully, nothing extra at all. Well done.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Robert D. Orr,
Chairman and CEO of Brooke Corporation (Nasdaq: BXXX), announced today that
the Company’s 2005 Annual Franchise Convention scheduled on October 16th-19th
in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been canceled due to the devastation caused by
the recent hurricane.  Orr stated, "Out of deference to our franchisees and
employees and their families in the Gulf Coast area and the thousands of other
victims of Hurricane Katrina, we felt it was best to cancel the 2005
convention and not relocate to another city.  Our condolences and concern go
out to those who have been affected by this tragedy, and we apologize for the
inconvenience that this has caused for those that had made arrangements to
attend."
    Orr added, "Brooke franchisees from all over the country have joined the
Company in providing support to the franchisees in the area hit by Katrina. At
this point, we believe it is more important to focus on these efforts and the
immediate needs of our policyholders than the planned 2005 convention.
However, to demonstrate our confidence that the great city of New Orleans will
soon rebuild, we are planning to hold the 2006 Annual Franchise Convention in
New Orleans."
    Brooke Corporation announced that all convention registrations, including
hotel accommodations, have been cancelled and that registrants need not take
any other action with respect to such registrations. All registration fees
that have been paid to Brooke will be reimbursed.  The Company will answer
questions and provide assistance for those that have purchased airline
