		<description>You are right to an extent. I agree that blogs are merely the newest arrow in the communications quiver and that it should be a matter of course that PR agencies know how to use them. But the very fact that they are new (in the relative sense) and, as you point out, potentially dangerous, means that conveying a sense of familiarity (claiming expertise goes too far) is useful. It doesn&#039;t matter that you &quot;get it&quot; because so many others don&#039;t...yet.

We all know the trick parents use to get kids to ride their bikes without training wheels, right? (&quot;OK, honey, we&#039;ll take the wheels off and I&#039;ll hold the seat and run along side you.&quot;) The parent knows the child doesn&#039;t need the help, but until s/he is riding along happily on their own, you don&#039;t reveal that you weren&#039;t really holding the seat.

So, if you have to say to your clients &quot;hey, we know blogging, we blog ourselves&quot; in order to give them confidence to try it themselves, where&#039;s the harm in that?

Admittedly, I&#039;m addressing more the beginning of your post than the end. You started to lose me with the whole &quot;blogs aren&#039;t PR&quot; rant. There&#039;s a big difference between &#039;not the Holy Grail&#039; (agree) and tarnishing/eroding.</description>
