Blackberry rides the Crisis Management Train – and 8,000,000 people don’t know about it

Have you joined my incredibly non-annoying, once-in-a-while email newsletter?

So I’m sitting on the tarmac last night in Minneapolis, waiting for my wind-delayed flight to take off. We’re there for 20 minutes, and because the door is closed, no one is allowed to use their Blackberries.  For once, everyone listened. Not because we all decided to be good, but because Blackberries were down across North America last night.

“Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone…”

Blackberry called it an “outage,” and callers to T-Mobile were told that it’s “Research in Motion’s fault.”

Either way, service was mostly restored by this morning. But wow, that sucked.
