This week’s topic-du-jour-that’s-not-about-Lindsay-and-her-alcohol-classes seems to be about quitting Facebook, and how Mark Zuckerberg is, depending on who you talk to, the Devil, the Antichrist, or both. Even Calacanis jumped into the fray this morning with a post that made some good points. Now, first off – understand – I’m not saying Zuck is right, or even a nice person. Quite frankly, someone needs to give him some CEO lessons really freaking quickly. But I believe that the uproar over quitting Facebook due to privacy concerns is overblown, and those quitting might come to regret it. Here’s why. 1) Perhaps most importantly, Privacy is only a problem if you’re posting seriously private stuff. Let’s talk about how many times you were [...]

Every once in a long while, someone pitches me something that’s surprisingly right on target. Today was one. Jennifer Jacobson at Retrevo sent me an interesting pitch about a survey they conducted – Turns out, I’m right to keep my Blackberry at home when I go out and know I’ll be drinking. Results below. Be careful out there, peeps. Full story is here. Study Highlights: – 32% of people surveyed say they’ve posted something online they regretted – Of that 32%: 3% say it ruined their marriage or relationship with someone. 6% of them said it caused problems at work or home. – Of that 32%: 13% were able to remove the offending post – 59% of iPhone users have [...]

However, from an email marketing perspective, they need to go back to the kitchen. I got this in my email today, with the subject line of “Happy Earth Day!”

With all the news stories today about the new bank regulations that took affect yesterday, I wanted to find out what my bank, TD Bank, had in store for me. Much to my surprise, it turned into an amazing story on customer service – and how it’s still possible with a mega-bank. Check it out. The entire world stops today, almost all news streamlines into one story (with the exception of a terrible plane crash/act of domestic terrorism in Texas.) Everything has shut down now, as the world waits… Waits… Waits for the Tiger… not to Roar, but to meekly crawl out of his den, wring his hands, shuffle around, apologize, and ask for forgiveness. At least, that’s the script he’ll stick to. In real life? Tiger is sleeping like a baby tonight, the night before he hits the public and the media for the first time since his encounter with a tree, a five-iron to the head, and a dozen or so women. Why? Because it comes down to this: We need Tiger a [...]
