In CA for meetings today. Figured I’d head out and skydive all morning. It’s cloudy as anything. No skydiving. So I sit here, at the makeup counter/mirror of my suite, working. I could do this from home. I don’t need to be a suite to do it. “Wow, Peter, you get to travel all the time! It must be so cool!” Yes. Welcome to “so cool.” Population: Me. I put “downtime” into two different categories. Short-burst downtime, and long-burst downtime. Long-burst downtime, we all know, are the hours between the flight attendant saying  “Sir, the doors closed 15 minutes ago, Blackberry off, NOW,”  and that first “ka-thump” of the wheels hitting pavement, hundreds or even thousands of miles away. Then there’s short-burst downtime. If you’re connected via an electronic leash (or by more than one, for some of us), short-burst downtime is the 15 or so minutes from the time you enter the subway outside your apartment until you exit the subway outside your office, or the 20 or so minutes when you’re sitting in traffic in the valley without signal, or the “please turn off the transmitter” time [...]

Shared a cab to LAS with Sarah Meyers and made it thru security in just under 20 minutes. Kinda shocked, considering that 84 million geeks were leaving at the same time. Sitting close to the gate, when Jordan Golson walked by again with his booty… The miserable pillow of D. This pillow is quickly becoming a slut pillow.   Far be it from me to not get in on the pillow love-fest… So overall? Yes, glad I went. Still tired, still cranky. But it was a decent show, albeit nothing new or exciting… OK. They’re calling my flight. I’m off to SF.
