What’s wrong with this picture? I currently have over four thousand people sitting in what I call “Facebook Purgatory,” because I’ve reached the cap of 5,000 friends on Facebook. Over four thousand people! Four thousand potential brand ambassadors, four thousand people who want to add me to their network. Four thousand people with whom I can potentially work, four thousand people who may become IRL friends, or contacts, or clients, who may, after looking at my profile, and seeing previous speaking engagements, ask me to speak at an event they’re producing. This particular Twitter posting came back to bite the agency person from Ketchum (New York office) who made some unflattering remarks about Memphis this morning before he presented on digital media to the worldwide communications group at FedEx (150+) people. Not only did an employee find it, they were totally offended by it and responded to the agency person. The kicker is that they copied the FedEx Coporate Vice President, Vice President, Directors and all management of FedEx’s communication department AND the chain of command at Ketchum. Mr. Andrews, the Ketchum presenter, did not take into account that many FedExers are native Memphians and are feircely defensive of their city and their company. Updated: 16:25 12/26 A little history… I’m on Twitter as @skydiver.The morning of December 24th, I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. I figured I could clean out my office, and by doing so, give away via Twitter all the “SWAG” that I’d collected over the year from loyal HARO members, advertisers, and the like. Seemed like a good idea. So the night before, I posted this to Twitter. Within 30 minutes, I had over 400 new followers.
