I love the fact that I sit on boards. It means I get to give away super-cool free stuff. Today, I get to give away a Winter Jacket (just in time) at ScotteVest. Like the kind I have. Want to win A Fleece 5.0? ScotteVest? Perfect for winter? Here’s all you have to do: Someone tweeted me this morning with a speaking opportunity – But they did it to @peter. When they didn’t get a response, they tweeted to @shankman. By this point, I was notified by more than one person that this tweeter thought I just wasn’t replying. *Facepalm.* So it occurred to me that I might want to do a better job branding my Twitter name. That’s where you [...]

With the rumor that Twitter is going to create their own photo sharing/hosting platform within their own walls, it’s time for businesses to start getting serious about using photos if they’re using Twitter. The following are best practices on how to do just that. Know your audience. Before you even look at taking photos and posting them to Twitter, you have to ask yourself the most basic of questions: Is your audience on Twitter? According to eMarketer, only 20 million Americans visited/used Twitter last month. And if you wonder why a post about how to live your life while having fun is part of a group of posts on being taken seriously, think about it – If you can be a professional, while having fun and enjoying your life, there’s nothing more respected than that. Before you read this post, read this one first. Chances are, if you’re gonna leave a snarky comment, it’s already been left there. Now then: I’m writing this blog post on a flight back from Frankfurt, a connection to end a trip that started four days ago at Newark Airport, led [...]

I put my horrible body issues aside this month and was honored to be asked to participate in the Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness Pledge Campaign. Fact is, I like women. And breast cancer is a deadly disease that affects women. But: It affects all of us – moms, sisters, girlfriends, daughters – and the people who love them. And guess what – It’s not only limited to women – breast cancer strikes men, as well. But more than that, I’ve seen what breast cancer can do to people I care about. And if that’s something that we can help prevent by encouraging early detection and the spread of information, to not do it is a crime. We all have [...]

Hi from Airlie Beach! Got in last night, had a lovely dinner with Whitsundays Tourism, (follow them!) and was asleep before I could close my hotel door. Woke up at the crack of dawn this morning (I think all Australian people are in such great shape because they all wake up at 5am) to catch a bus to Chute Harbor, and the Fantasea Great Barrier Reef cruise/snorkeling/adventure/day. Got to the boat by 7:45, and was quickly ushered on, and given some motion-sickness tablets. Last time I was on a boat, I declined them. Never. Again. Popped them like they were crack rocks and I was 30 minutes out of rehab. Hey, I don’t even watch “Deadliest Catch” on TV. I [...]
