Everyone will be blogging about this by tomorrow, so I’ll just say this. We’re always taking into account things when planning stunts. Insurance. Rain. Crowds. Media. But we live in a world that spends most of the time on high alert. We should probably take that into consideration when we brainstorm stunts, as well. Flooding Times Square with Yoo-hoo is one thing. You know what it is, you see it happening. Putting flashing lights at high traffic areas around Boston for a promotion for Cartoon Networ’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force, is something else entirely. Not really that bright. Even if they were "harmless." And you know it’s not a smart stunt if I say it’s not. I mean, I’m the [...]

The things we do for fun at CES. Strippers? Boring. Hookers and Alcohol? Nah, too plebian. I got it: LET’S GET TASERED!! Added to my list of things I’ve done in my life: I’ve been Tasered. And HOLY CRAP, IT HURT. It really, really, really hurt. 50,000 volts running through your legs will do that, I suppose. Taser was demo’ing their new "cooler-looking, in color" Tasers. Two guys held me, one on either side. I found out it was to lower me down slowly. I was like, "yeah, whatever." Then it felt like I was freakin’ SHOT. I went down like a rifled Hippo. According to BrandRepublic (and a bunch of others) Edelman PR issued a public apology for not disclosing that a blog called www.walmartingacrossamerica.com, about two people in an RV sleeping in Wal-Mart parking lots, was in fact, underwritten by Working Families for Wal-Mart, a group back by (shock) Wal-Mart, designed to portray a positive image of the superstore. There aren’t keys big enough on my keyboard to ask Edelman – WTF? This is EDELMAN! This is "The last great independent PR shop." This is the home of STEVE FREAKING RUBEL! He’s quoted as the expert on every article on blogs in the free world, because he’s been that good at mixing the Kool-Aid. You’re going to tell me Steve couldn’t have [...]

According to this website, two people in Germany were arrested for filling soccer balls with concrete, and leaving them on the ground with a sign next to them that said "Can you kick it?" Of course, people tried, and promptly broke their feet. From a PR standpoint, this wouldn’t be good. Lawsuits would abound. But from a strictly funny standpoint, I can’t stop laughing. Think Charlie Brown and the Football.
