I wanted to wait until after the conference ended to see how these went over. And I’m thrilled to report that they were the hit of the show. I got the idea after Lili from Online Tonight gave me one of hers a few months ago. So I had them made, and figured this show would be a good chance to introduce them. The next generation of business cards. Introducing, my Business Chip. The reaction was better than I ever could have imagined. People had never seen anything like them before. They’re actual "clay" chips, just like they use in Vegas, but with my information on both sides. People were grabbing them like candy, holding onto them, taking pictures of [...]

Did anyone happen to notice that Taco Bell sent two delivery boys to Paris’ Grandparents house to give Paris her first meal upon her release from jail? I saw this repeated on CNN, the BBC, and the local Singapore news several times over the course of the evening, because I was up from 3am on. I don’t know why. I couldn’t sleep. But regardless, Taco Bell, yet again, comes to the forefront of Timely Stunts. I’ve mentioned this numerous times – does your PR stunt have a time-frame call to action? Is it relevant? 120 Google News hits on Taco Bell + in the past eight hours. Is your campaign timely? In other news, the conference producer came to me [...]

From Jean Miller, Director of International Initiatives for Linden Labs (Otherwise known as the company that made Second Life.) Second Life is now 750 Square Kilometers. Singapore is 700 Square Kilometers. Wow. I’m listening to her speak right now, and she has that whole "I’m talking really softly and spewing stats that are making you incredibly jealous (like pre-localization numbers) and I can talk softly with just that slight hint of "I’m cooler than you" tone in my voice, because, well, I am." And dammit. She is. 750 Square Kilometers. Damn. So about a week ago, a song was put into my head by someone I’ll affectionately call Satan. Since then, I’ve asked about a dozen or so people if they know it. Because even though EVERYONE knows the chorus, NO ONE knows what the hell the damn song is. So I’m going to attempt to find out. I’m going to post me singing the chorus here. If someone knows it, please tell me. If you don’t, tell your friends. If they don’t, have them tell their friends. Because, my friends… This is gonna freaking KILL ME until I find out. Help. Let’s prove social networking has an actual purpose.

The morning dawned grey and hot, as every morning in Singapore has so far. Last night saw an after-day-one party with free drinks and networking galore. And it saw me stay for five minutes, schmooze, network, drink two diet cokes, and promptly go back to my hotel room to work for three hours. On the plus side of that work, though, among other things, OpSec Security resigned with Geek Factory for another year. That thrills me. They’re such a fun client. Thank you, guys. A few fun photos before the madness of the conference starts… At Raffles Plaza Mall near my hotel, there’s a really cool fountain that, in addition to the usual "spray water straight up" thing that fountains [...]
