PETER SHANKMAN

It’s official. I want to be my cat.

I’m sitting here, working my ass off. It’s raining outside. I’ve had a crappy week in many ways. I’ve had a headache for two days straight. I haven’t run all week. It’s never going to get warm. I haven’t skydived in so long, I’m sure I’m going to forget what to do the next time I exit the plane, and make a crater in the earth nine feet deep.

While I sit here bitching about all of this, NASA, one of my two cats, sits next to me, sleeping, without so much as a care in the world. EVER.

I’ll tell you… It must be nice.
NASA T. Cat

Perhaps he’s dreaming about the sun coming out, or about it warming up so I can start running again, and get back into training…

Or perhaps he’s doing none of the above, because he’s a cat.

TGIF. For reals.

That looks like one happy cat…

I think it might be rainy and depressing everywhere today though. Cheer up! You could be this lady….. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23939897/ Careless and reckless use of a bra can get your modeling career national exposure!

Well, I’m in Portland Oregon and it was SUNNY for a couple of days (if frosty in the mornings), and now its RAINING! (But it’s a nice gentle COLD rain…does that make a difference?).

Remind me when spring is supposed to arrive?!?!?

Mo’ later – ;-)

I’m in South Florida…does that make you mad? ;-) if it’s any comfort it’s hot and muggy. Sorry about your rough week but enjoy your weekend!

Sorry you’re blue — but hey, warm and rainy is one step up from cold and rainy. We’re on our way to spring! Hang in there. Your cat has the right idea, it’s a good day for naps.

Zac, my boy tabby, is watching me type this. He knows I’m going away, so he’s trying unsuccessfully to stay awake. Yes, camping at Lake San Antonio for SF Tri Club’s big Wildflower Triathlon Training Weekend. Forecast is for high 30′s at night, 60′s daytime. Water temp around 62. Brrrr! Overcast (what else is new) here in SF. And, no one to share my tent much less my sleeping bag!

I feel your pain, Bra!

NASA is such a great name for a cat!

(Then again, I did pay to have lunch with an astronaut last January, so I might be a bit biased.)

I am so jealous of you–you have cats…I love them and have a spouse who is allergic to them. But, on the other hand, I’m here in Charleston, SC where tomorrow is the 10K Cooper River Bridge Run, The Flowertown Festival, and the azaleas, wisteria and dogwoods are in absolute full bloom. So, you’ll pack a toothbrush and come sleep on my floor.

Peter the problem is you haven’t figured out who the pet is.

What is the difference between a dog and a cat?

Dog: “These people are so nice, they give me great food, cool toys, a warm bed and lots of love. They must be Gods.”

Cat: “These people are pretty awesome. The food is excellent…the toys could be better, but they’re learning. And, I love that bed of theirs. I must be a God, but then we know that.”

You named your cat NASA – I love it. They say there’s something in a name, if so maybe NASA achieves weightlessness during sleep.

Raining here in Santa Claus, Indiana, too — and how pathetic is this? We have workers outside prepping our theme park for season’s opening in a month. It’s pouring rain, yet they’re *power washing* the walkways! Guess maybe we’ll just say Mother Nature provided a pre-soak (I can’t help myself, I’m in PR…).

Love NASA! Paula

My cat was able to go roll in the red Oklahoma dirt today, lovely day. Of course Funny Face is now pink rather than white trimmed.

Your NASA looks quite content.

My cats Pixel and Dot regularly perform code review and pen testing against my larger projects in addition to watching over the books for my consulting gig on the side. It’s no wonder they sleep all day.

Here’s one of Dot breaking into a fresh new installation of OpenWRT

Darlin, cats could give a good goddamn.

Though I will never own one, I will say that they do get some things right.

Sorry you had a bad week. Here’s to things looking up next week…

“When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name;
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
—Eliot, of course

On the other hand, he could just be sound asleep.

What a cute cat. I myself have five cats and they often look as content as yours. Many times my kids say they wish they could be our cats or dogs. And for those animal lovers out there log onto http://www.zootoo.com – it is a really cool site for pet lovers to share, connect and help. Enjoy

LOL, I’ve got 3 of those furry beasts and they just love to sleep in the most unusual places. Sure seems like an easy life, doesn’t it? ;)

I can’t believe I’m barging in to crow about a cat … what a cutie pie. this pic ranks up there with the one of andy wibbels being overseen by a cat on andywibbels.com.

yup, thats what I go through on a daily basis. I have a cat that jumps up on my desk right in the middle of an important email, blocking my view and putting her paws on the keyboard. She then gets excited about my monitor and rubs up against it and licks it…until i lightly tap her out of the way…and she then pops up on to the top of my deskset and curls up in a ball and sleeps all day. Worst part of all of this? The dang HAIR she sheds all over the place….i find furballs in my keyboard all the time…ugh…
