It’s time for the “I” in “I Told You So.”
I had mentioned this back in May… How I predicted that the second half of 2007, we were going to see the fall of the first major newspaper to some other kind of medium - web, electronic, whatever. It got a ton of trackbacks, and a lot of people said one of two things: "You’re right," or "You’re an idiot."
Well, I’m not declaring victory just yet, but the cards seem to be falling into the deck at quite pleasing right angles. How’s this for an example?
NY Times Posts 52% drop in profits, executive to "rein in costs" and "increase revenues." (via Smart Money.)
I’m just sayin. That’s all. I’m just sayin.

You’re not an idiot, but you’re misguided to revel in the newspaper industry’s travails. We should be encouraging the industry to evolve with technology, because we need it.
I’m not reveling in it, but rather, reveling in my prediction of six months ago. Big difference. I’d love to see newspapers “Get it.” I’d also love to see the Daily News and Times get delivered to my door before 6:30am every morning. But for some reason, both don’t seem possible.
