Some Random Shopping Porn…

Sitting here on the beach on my second to last day in Phuket, I started thinking about some of the things I’ve purchased of late, whether good or bad.

Someone asked me a few months ago if I’d made that “Sell a company” purchase yet – A house, a car, a jet, etc. Totally not my thing. Even when I had a chance to buy a Tesla a few months ago, I passed. I’m into more… How do I put it… useful things.

So… Some random purchases of late:

I was doing a TV segment about six months ago, and one of the other guests was an 18-year old kid with the coolest shoes I’d ever seen. I ran right home and bought two pairs of Osiris sneakers, specifically, these type:

For what it’s worth, mine are much more colorful. I’ve worn them a total of once. Everyone who sees them says they won’t be seen with me if I wear them.

I picked up the Contour HD video camera last month to skydive with it. Unfortunately, it peeled off my helmet on the first jump, never to be seen again. Fortunately, the cool cats at Contour sent me a new one, free of charge. I shall shock-weld it to my helmet and try again.

Finally, I grabbed the Fuego Element Portable Gas Grill this morning off Amazon. Since I live in NYC and I can’t legally have a grill on my balcony, I bought a grill for my balcony. (Everyone does it. Shut up.) Wired rated this grill the best, so I picked it up on Amazon on sale. Will be good for the 4th, when the Fireworks are outside my apartment again on the Hudson.

What else should I impulse buy? Let me know in the comments.

So YOU’RE the jerk that dropped that camera on my head! I’m walkin’ along, singin’ a song and all of a sudden a camera falls out of the sky and bonks me on the head! I had to get 22 stitches, I’ll have you know!

How about an animal rescue organization? Give Karma some kitty friends? You [almost] can’t buy friends, but cats or dogs will do.

I love Cherie’s idea! (But I’m guessing you’ve already done that, knowing your soft heart for animals. :) )

So, how about sending your parents (or those that served that role in your life) on their always-dreamed-of-trip-of-a-lifetime? Maybe they’ve always wanted to go to Tuscany or Greece, or take a cruise, etc. Nothing beats making someone’s day/year/life, especially when they’re important to you!

The grill reminded me of something I wanted to buy years ago. The Cobb Grill. Supposed to be great for safe balcony grilling.

Ooh, do you like sweets? Then you MUST go get yourself some Coffeebark – http://www.sugarloco.com/2011/.....offeebark/. You’ll appreciate this little company run by a college student (who also runs Spoonfudge – another amazing sweet).

Oh, and if you’ve got any special kiddos you like to spoil – spoil them with some Monkey Toes (my other biz) http://www.monkey-toes.com. The cutest shoes you’ll ever see.
