This year 2008 we were able to satisfy a reporter with an interview with a young girl who is going blind that competed in Beijing on the US Paralympic Judo Team. She is awsome and a role model for not only blind and visually impaired but sighted children and young adults alike. Our Blind Judo Foundation (www.blindjudofoundation.org) creates champions of blind and visually impaired kids through the sport of Judo. HARO has helped in our cause. 2009 is going to be great and it includes exposure to these brave athletes representing America not only nationally but internationally. Happy New Year!

Peter, I can’t thank YOU and the rest of the HARO team enough! As an indie author, I face an uphill battle in getting any kind of mainstream press coverage. Within days of joining HARO, I hit marketing gold by answering some of your queries! My how-to reference book on self-publication got a mention in a Wall Street Journal/Marketwatch article, which was then picked up by FoxBusiness and several newspaper syndicates, and I’ve also had requests from two mainstream book reviewing outlets that wish to feature the book. Sales on the book are up 500% this month, and I know I have HARO to thank for it in large part. When I release the updated edition of my book I will most definitely include HARO in the chapter on promotion, and you can bet I’ll be sharing HARO with attendees of the webinars I’m set to begin teaching in February. Peter- you make my world a better place 5 days a week. When I was laid-off this year, people told me that one day I will see it as the best thing that happened to me. It’s rare to actually enjoy trying to find sources for national stories and/or on tight deadlines, or feel there’s someone in your court who’s not just reaching for your wallet. With all due respect to the PR people out there, the “real people” sources I’ve found through my requests here, and which I most often need, have been fantastic and much appreciated. This was and is a service badly needed.

I’ve become a HARO evangelist, telling sources and fellow journos alike about it. I recently gave a talk in Toronto to 94 journalism veterans, including many editors, and asked for a show of hands who knew about HARO — few did. Now they do.

The number of responses is a true indication of how spectacular HARO is. My field is specific to the horse world (I do both PR and am a journalist) and so it’s not always easy to track down those in the general media that need horse stories and/or photos. HARO at least gives me the chance to “pitch wisely” when there is something that’s a match. Will you ever consider doing a matched concept – HAPRPO – Help a PR Person Out – where we can include information about clients we represent and the types of stories we can offer to writers and photographers and/or let companies know the type of writing or photos we have to offer. Or will that only be done through the ads at the beginning of each HARO. I’d be willing to pitch in and help a project like this get off the ground. Diana

I think I joined around the 10,000 people mark, and last I heard you were at least 42,000 people. Thank you does not seem sufficient for the great service HARO provides my business. As a small business owner and Artist that focuses on giving back to others through my work (I donated to Children’s organizations from the sale of my collections…each collection has a unique child’s story associated with it) my marketing and PR budget is slim/non-existent. I put everything I can back into the business or towards the donations (I don’t even take a salary). If it weren’t for HARO I would not have the opportunity to make the PR connections to tell the story of my work and spread the inspiration to others of hope and healing. You have helped this Artist continue to pay it forward as you pay it forward to me. As a result of HARO I’ve had the opportunity to appear in so many great publications and blogs. HARO is my sole source for all PR leads and I look forward to the great things in 2009. If there is ever anything I can do for HARO, let me know (not sure what that may be but I am so thankful for your service and I am always willing to give back in any way to those who help me share my story).

p.s. – I am also @ThirdHyphen’s wife so I will have the pleasure of enjoying the trip to Lake Tahoe he won on Friday. We are brainstorming ways to take the rest of the Twitterverse with us.
