The Changing Face of PR (Or, how to complain when clients don’t pay)

TInteresting article from the Birmingham Post - These two journalists-turned-PR-people wrote an article about how over half their clients didn’t pay.

I don’t know if I’d be as candid as they were, but it’s an interesting read. There are two other articles below it, talking about the changing face of PR.

Have we all had these problems? I have, but usually the client is late, as opposed to not-paying. There’s a difference.

Knock on wood … I’ve never had a client not pay, though I did do some work for some small firms that I worried about.

However, not getting paid was a fairly common happening at the large agency I worked at. Some clients just feel they can get away with it because it’s PR. And all the legal signatures and contracts up front don’t mean a thing.

Seems to me that not paying the PR people would not bode well for your PR.
