What’s Hot on HARO – February 11, 2009

Welcome to the premiere episode of What’s Hot on HARO! Big, big thanks to AMP3 Public Relations for helping to create the intro/exit logo on the video. They rock, and did it in 22 hours. I mean seriously? Who does that? They rock.

Long time HARO Advertiser Nick Nanton was kind enough to underwrite the first WHO-H, his company, Celebrity Sites gets the media calling YOU. Email lindsay@celebritysites.com for more info.

So here we go. I’ve already called B+H Photo and ordered a new Mic, so I can really make this sound good. For now though, thanks to the person in the Sheraton Hotel Lounge in Cleveland who was kind enough to hold my Flip Cam.

Enjoy! I want to hear your comments – What do you want to hear on upcoming episodes of WHO-H? I’ll be making it available via RSS and iTunes shortly, as well. As always, your thoughts will help shape this exciting new feature of HARO. Enjoy!

PS: Almost forgot: Got any rumors, tips, etc? Know what reporter is leaving to go where? Let me know! And let me know if you want a shout-out for the info, or if you want it anonymous! Thanks!

I think this is a great idea. I would also like to hear success stories every now and then PR Pros had from HARO. A fun idea would be to keep a tracker of how many consecutive days in a row you mention the economy as a hot topic on WHO-H.

Awesome Peter! Never realized how much info you could get into such a short period of time. Looking forward to more WHO-H. Thanks!

Great new series, Peter. I know many students, for instance, will love this and gain a great deal of insight. Thank you for hosting the video on PROpenMic, too. I hope you’ll continue to do so. Your support of the students will mean a great deal to them. Looking forward to the future videos.

One question, you say “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Is this to be a daily series?

Thanks!

How cool is it that Cleveland will forever be associated with the first-ever WHO-H!

Can’t wait to see you this morning for your talk at CLE PRSA. Sorry I missed you last night, I must have broken five traffic laws trying to get there after my teleseminar.

I’ve been a Shankman follower since before Twitter, before HARO even.

Because anyone who’d start a company called Geek Factory is OK by me.

Thanks Peter,

For a guy that originally swore he’d never sell ads in HARO, you sure are doing a good job figuring out how to monetize the HARO list with ads and namedrops!

Way to go Peter! I’m so glad you got out of actual PR work. It’s makes my life that much easier.

XOXOXO

Peter,
I do have one suggestion:

Put some energy into this.

Man, all the stuff you do is so flat, and drab.

Peter, SLOW down just a hair, had to replay some stuff to catch the names, etc. I am sure you have them listed on HARO but really, it would be better, my heart rate went up just watching you.

yes, I remember back when advertising was not what HARO was all about…your words, so I am big time jealous at how much you are making with HARO and now this venue, way to go Peter. That is what free enterprise is all about and you are helping people out 3 times a day!!!

Slooooowwwww down, take a little time to breathe

Thanks for a new dimension to HARO

Great job Peter! Can’t wait for the podcast. I agree with Mary…you should try and slow down just a bit. (P.S. Love HARO too!)

Was hoping you’d give us more face time after the stellar Holiday GiveAway program! Thanks for this fast/edgy little bit of Shankman on HARO!

Will you tweet it up every day or do we have to visit the website? I’m in CA so think about RT’ng it 3 hours later (MWalker?) so it comes up to the top of the page for us in later time zones….so it doesn’t get buried in the tweetforest.

Thanks for sharing your energy Peter!

Nicely done! I look forward to being informed and inspired daily. Keep up the good work you do in providing this amazing (free) service.

Thanks for this – for those of us trying to address the never-ending task list, it’s great to get some concise information in this format. I particularly appreciated the XM / Sirius rumor – that was the first I had heard of this development.

Love the energy – who needs coffee when us West Coasters have such a great way to get our morning started?! Like the idea on hearing success stories PR Pros had from HARO – it’d probably help both sides of the fence. You have a great gig going … PR friends from across the industries love your stuff … thank YOU!

Wow – I feel like I’m totally on top of all the latest happenings now. No more hour long news for me!

LOL @ Joel!

The ‘camera on a stick thing’ Miss Britt mentioned is an XShot Camera Extender! Let me know if you want one :) although you couldn’t talk with your hands if you were holding one… but they are fun!

That was great. You’re always a pleasure to watch, Peter, although with all your energy, you make me very tired! I look forward to new installments of this feature.

I don’t have a thing to do with XM/Sirius, but bankruptcy does not mean they are going out of business. The ‘rumor’ is they are considering Chapter 11 which means they retain control of assets etc… It provides the company protection from creditors (paying their bills) but it would be my assessment they are looking for a way to survive long-term.

In fact as a PR professional I would argue it is a strategically important time for them TO communicate so the message isn’t dictated by the rumor that they are “going out of business” – unless of course that is what they are trying to accomplish.

Any company heading to or in Ch. 11 bankruptcy can be and possibly is a communications opportunity for the right person/firm.

Peter, just curious, why the extended Greg Clayman name drop? I mean, I know you said its his Birthday (Happy Birthday Greg), but his Twitter feed is pretty lowkey, mainly standard geography/event updates, and his blog hasn’t seen an update since December 2007. Am I missing something? Normally you’re Johnny on the Spot with referrals to timely, insightful, interesting, or important destinations, and this one seems like a non-starter. No offense to Greg.

Care to elaborate?

Peter, this is great. I’m new to HARO and I want to thank you for it. Once you work out the audio the WHO-H eps will be perfect. I like the pace – Fast & Furious. If I miss something, I know how to rewind. Two minutes is the perfect foramt. Looking forward to being a part of the HARO community.

Peter, thank you for mentioning my query in your video! No wonder I received almost 200 fabulous responses to my “Do you LOVE your job?” query. HARO consistently helps me find amazing experts for my Calgary Sun articles.
