My movie is done!

In June of 2010, I was approached by my good friend Lisa Hamil, who asked me if I’d be interested in becoming the executive producer on her latest film.

“A chance to be in IMDB and get a poster with my name on it?” I asked. “I’d be crazy not to,” and the rest is history.

I’m thrilled to announce that shooting, editing, and everything else that goes into making a movie is DONE, and Right Next Door is finally ready! We have an awesome agent who’s currently shopping the movie around, and I couldn’t be more excited with how it looks – It’s an amazing thriller starring Linda Hamilton (Terminator) and Ted McGinley, (Married… With Children) as well as some truly amazing up-and-coming stars like Hallee Hirsh, (You’ve Got Mail) Elsie Fisher (Despicable Me) and Jeremy Dozier (Dirty Girl) I’m so excited about how Right Next Door turned out, I can’t even begin to tell you. Please share! We’d love as much feedback as we can get!

Normally, there is no f-ing way I would ever go see a movie that looks this scary. But two things make this an exception–I’d be laughing too hard to run out of the theater in horror, and also, I’ve been irresistibly drawn to Ted McGinley since I was eleven years old and used to watch “The Love Boat” in secret when my parents left me to babysit my younger sister. Babysitting flashbacks + edgy humor + Peter Shankman? I need to go to this premiere!! (And if Linda Hamilton is willing to arm wrestle me, that’s a bonus spectacle for you Peter!)

Watched with the sound off (because I’m at work) and couldn’t take my eyes off the screen! I can’t tell 100-percent, but it looks like there is a blend of humor with some amazingly chilling scenes. A few are reminiscent of Hitchcock! Very impressive and the actors are very emotive! Nice job!

I wonder if this is the final teaser trailer for the theatre or for our benefit to give you feedback based on n almost complete feel for the film. If it is then it looks like a good thriller that I would go see.
If it is the final theatre and junket version, as a movie lover etc, I’d enjoy a more edited version. Realizing it is a scary thriller

Fabulous, very exciting. When I went back to check the time on the trailer, I was shocked to see it was only 1.5 minutes as so many cuts were included! One of my laments over the last.. oh, forever, is movie trailers that show you WAY too much of the movie. The one excuse for doing this is when you only THINK you’re seeing too much of the movie, and in reality the trailer is sliding you a large dose of misdirection of the specifics while still giving a relatively honest idea about the kind of movie you’re going to see (I’m glaring at you, Bridge to Terabithia… I took a friend in mourning to you because you were billed as dreamy and light-hearted)

I trust yours is the latter, but if it’s the former, please, smack someone around and have them re-do it. I don’t read the final chapter of books first for a reason.

Hi, Peter. Congratulations on your upcoming film! I think it looks really great and I would love to see it. I would say that if the trailer were a tad bit flashier with more cuts (you don’t want to give too much away up front and as a woman, I know this well) and a tiny bit more were left to the imagination, it would be just perfect. I wish you tons of success and I already own a gown for the premiere. ;)

This looks like such a fun project! In regard to the trailer, I would focus more on giving away the fact that it’s a “scary” movie within the first few seconds. Right away, I can’t tell what genre the movie is, and by the time I get the hint that it’s a scary movie (around :50) I’m already starting to become absorbed by the characters and relationships and don’t know whether or not to take the “scary movie” thing seriously. Otherwise, love the cast!

If I were up for a scary movie, this would be my choice, because it looks to have some laughs along with the “things that go bump in the night.” Congrats, finishing a movie is a real accomplishment, and this one will probably be successful, like all your other endeavors!

I’m hoping the trailer doesn’t tell us everything about “who done it.” When I heard “All right, $100″ and then saw what followed, I hoped the parents had roped the babysitter into some nightmare of their own creating, using their children as actors in their play, so the film would not be a straight slasher, “Scary Movie” redux. Having children be the perpetrators of horror is particularly frightening.

Peter, make the trailer shorter and tighter to hold us through riveting 90 seconds instead of 2 minutes–cut out the $60 in the beginning, cut to the next scene faster from the “MoFo’s West Coast” line. We want to be riveted on a roller coaster through the trailer. The bed scene and slap doesn’t fit for me. Edit these things out and draw an audience of thrill seekers!

Is it funny? Scary? Both? I felt a bit confused after watching the trailer. If it’s both, I get that, but it seems too interspersed. I didn’t feel either happy or scared enough to elicit a strong response. In the middle of what I thought was a scary part, it shows some guy’s face (1:11). I can’t tell what’s up with him, but his expression bugs me. Then all of a sudden at 1:14 the dad is back. I get he might be part of the twist, but don’t give that away so soon. Looks scary! but maybe a bit violent for my taste (or maybe some violent shots should be left out of the preview). A few screen shots in the first few minutes (with the family and babysitter talking) looked like they were shaking, which was a bit distracting. And the babysitter’s hair was distracting too – very over the top. But I love the boob thing and the little girl is adorable! Congratulations on such a huge accomplishment!

I was confused about what I was watching. If I could make a suggestion to be more defenitive if it is a comedy horror movie. It touched on both and was intriguing;however, would like to be more confident in what type of movie I was going to see. I like to be surprised, but would not go see it if it was a horror movie. If it was the a Scream type absolutely. I went and rewatched the trailor of Scream and the main difference was it never showed anyone getting hurt. It showed comedy and people being scared with some silly scary voice in the background narrating. This movie you knew you would laugh when you went to see it. In your trailor it shows blood and people that look like they are hurt. So eventhough, it looks like it is supposed to be funny, becasuse you actually see violence, you question yourself. Looks great, think it will do amazing with a little tweeking.

Ted McGinley is refreshing in this flick. Now “Married with Children”, he accompanies a new “Dynasty” of actors into the mix, and complements Linda Hamilton very well. The whole cast shines, and is sure to bring enjoyment to folks all over…in theatres, in the home, and even on airplanes—from the east wing to the “West Wing”. Clearly, this film was made with a lot of heart, soul, and a Boat full of Love. “Happy Days” are here again.

This looks like an pretty action packed thriller, the unsuspecting killer that may or may not be one of the kids your babysitting. Looks very intense and definitley something that may be worth seeing. I love Ted McGinley he was quite hilarious in married with children and I would look forward to seeing him in a more serious role. The editing is very well done and provides just enough insight into the movie without giving the entire things away. The worst part about most movie trailers these days is they show all the best parts of the movie and once you go see it you realize just that. Very well done and I wish you the best of luck with the premier.

Looks fun (is that the right word?) but I was a little disappointed by the cinematography if I’m brutally honest, partivularly the inconsistent and, dull (sorry) lighting.

Great acting though, would still give it a watch.
